Final Layout

I had hoped to get the whole top of this quilt done today, but since we unexpectedly went to help some friends out, not so much got done.  But I did get all the blocks done and laid out.  After everyone chimed in on my layout I kept it the way it was.  What do you think?

I like it even more now than when I started.  I'm excited about this one!  Still deciding on what to do for the borders, but I did pick up some fabric today to test out.

I'm so hoping that I can get the top done before we leave for vacation on Saturday.

A Diversion...

I have officially resigned to the fact that my UFO project for the month just isn't going to happen.  I keep thinking about starting on it, but can't seem to find the motivation.  Unfortunately, May and June are really stressful and busy months at work and I have a bunch of very detailed projects.  My UFO for the month has all these templates and just require more brain power than I am willing to give them.

So, since yesterday was my birthday I indulged in a new project.

One that requires very little brain power.  Here it is so far.  I worked hard last night!  :-)

It's based on the book Strip Tubing by Cozy Quit Designs.  It is super easy and is super fast.  I used a Grasshopper Bali Pop.  I am becoming a huge fan of Bali Pops!

There's still a few more rows I'd like to add but I think the final design is going to look something like this.

It's amazing how many different combinations you can make with these blocks.  Here's all the patterns they give in the book.  I've been playing with the layout and still not completely sure what the plan is.  Which ones do you like?

May UFO

I've actually been rather excited to get to #9 on my UFO list.  In theory it's not very difficult, but something that has been a UFO longer than almost anything else in my stash.  A number of years ago I signed up for a "buck-a-block", or maybe it was $5 a block, I don't remember.  I got the first 7 of the blocks done, but before the monthly series ended I got engaged and then married and it just dropped off the radar.

Here's the seven I completed way back when.

There are five left.  Not too difficult in theory, although I had forgotten how large the blocks were.  16" each!  They hardly fit onto my design wall as is.  The photo on the right is what they should all look like when completed.  The colored ones have been completed.  It looks like I have the hard ones left.

My goal for the month is just to get the remaining blocks finished.  I don't know what I am going to do with them beyond that, so the blocks being done is a finish enough for me this month!
